Momentum in Marketing

Everyone knows that swimming upstream is hard, and when you live in Arizona, where creeks and rivers can often run dry, swimming downstream can require some effort also.

This month we are talking about momentum. It would be easy to say that if you “go with the flow” the river will carryMomentum in Marketing you. Your network, the people in your area, even the referrals from your current clients bring a certain level of momentum. It is easy to sit back and simply go with the flow. You will go down stream but chances are, without a little bit of effort and steering, you can very quickly end up bouncing off a rock or stuck on the bank.

But let’s say you not only go with the flow but you embrace what it takes to swim upstream and, by doing so, you suddenly discover how quickly you can achieve your goals.

With marketing and sales, instead of fighting with what you think your marketing and sales should be or what some guru said it should be, what would it look like if you went with the momentum?  Look around; where is the current taking you? How can you use the momentum to navigate toward your goal?

In Arizona, we are at the end of a long, hot summer. Over the summer a bit of momentum dries up but as people come back to town, we see a rapid escalation of opportunity. Watch for those opportunities. Don’t fight the momentum. Swim. Jackie likes to say that energy and water both have a flow, use them to your advantage.

Here are three things we have seen pick up momentum that might affect your business:

  1. Expo / Tradeshow season is around the corner. We do a lot of printing for businesses that have tradeshow or expo booths. Now is the time to get those marketing pieces in place to keep costs down and give your team ample time to develop an opportune sales strategy.
  2. Women’s Business groups are picking up momentum. NAWBO was started 30 years ago because there simply were no groups for women to network. Well times have changed. As you all know, we have been a long time NAWBO member and supporter. Now, we have been honored to help coordinate a collaborative alliance between all of the women’s business groups in town. The response has been wonderful! If you are not tuned in to this growing demographic, now is the time. Attend events, take a leadership role and get connected. Check out the latest statistics from if you have any doubts that this market is gaining momentum.
  3.  Get online. The response to our new website has been awesome. Now we have decided to swim with the momentum. This month we beta launched a new online ordering platform. Yep, you can now order your business cards, flyers and postcards online and have them delivered directly to you. Experience positive buying and local karma with the ease and affordability of online ordering.

Sometimes we want to fight the momentum. Especially when the momentum seems to be moving so fast that we feel like it will carry us out of control.  Take an honest look at your business, your marketing and your community.  Ask yourself where is the momentum?   And if you’re looking for a swimming buddy, let us know by contacting us.
